My writing Process
A common question I hear is, "What type of writer are you?" To answer this, the pantser-to-outliner spectrum can be useful. The pantser starts with characters and a problem and allows the story to unfold. There is an organic element to this writing style that often leads to very real characters and unexpected story moments. A true pantser is not even sure where the story is going while they are writing. On the other side of the spectrum is the outliner.
An outliner creates a scene-by-scene outline of the story before the first draft is created. This can lead to highly structured plots supported by foreshadowing and good pacing.
I believe most writers are hybrids, combining both methods in ways that work for them. I have been called a story engineer, and I believe that to be true. And my process is very much hybrid.
