Chris Mitchell didn’t belong in space. Grounders never did. But after conventional methods fail, Mitchell is launched on a high-stakes mission to repair the WinterField--a system designed to save the Earth.
His mission takes a turn when an abandoned ship, drifting on gravitational tides, collides with his spacecraft.
Chris must decide whether the mysterious ship is his salvation or the harbinger of humanity's end. To learn this, he must travel to remote places of the galaxy, face unthinkable creatures, and confront profound questions about himself and what it means to be human.

About the Author
Mike Fontana has worked in the Aerospace Engineering Industry for over 25 years, designing and manufacturing structures for both spacecraft and aircraft. He received his engineering degree from California State University, Long Beach, and played baseball for the Dirtbags (where he still holds records today). After college, he was drafted by the California Angels, but his professional career was cut short by an unfortunate knee injury.
After baseball, Mike worked as an engineer for Hughes Aircraft, Boeing Satellite Systems, and General Atomics. During Covid, he found time for a few, long-overdue projects--gardening, good bourbon, and his true passion, creative writing.
In 2019, he found the inspiration for Seminal Event. While the story idea gnawed at the back of his mind for nearly a decade, it a little free time to finally sit down and write. Mike is looking forward to the release of his debut novel, Seminal Event, in the winter of 2026.
Mike is a cancer survivor, and when he's not writing, he enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include gardening, building things with his hands, and teaching young baseball players how to pitch.
You might find him on social media, posting about gardening and other backyard projects. He also likes talking about sports, science fiction, great old-fashioned recipes, and occasionally, his writing.
Mike also likes to cook, and his six-generation marinara and his mother's chocolate chip cookies are among his favorite recipes.
