Past, Present, and Future
2005 - Sitting in my cubicle at Boeing Space Systems, designing satellite antenna assemblies for XM Radio. I would noodle story ideas with my fellow design engineers. Long hours, late nights. No time to write, just design, design, design, and craft a story.
2019 - COVID creates room to complete long-overdue projects. My son and I built a large raised bed garden for my wife. My friends and I discover bourbon and conduct virtual taste tests online. And I begin writing Seminal Event.
2020 - First draft complete. My wife, my ideal reader, loves it.
2021 - After incorporating her edits, I sent the manuscript to ten friends, requesting they beta-read the story. The feedback was great. Very positive. Very encouraging. But also very insightful.
2023 - I begin writing the Paradox Event. Same process: Start writing, revert to outline, deviate from outline.
2023-2024 - For three years, I received and incorporated beta-reader feedback. Reworking. Improving. Polishing.
2024 - Complete book 2, The Paradox Event. Send out for beta reading.
2025 - Attended the San Diego Writers' Convention, where I embraced the EM-Dash. One of the lecturers pointed out that my staccato writing rhythm would benefit from the use of this tool. He redlined a few of my pages showing me where the dash would work and, it clicked. Now I use the EM-Dash all over the place.
2025 - Receive feedback from beta readers on The Paradox Event
2025 - Attended the Las Vegas Writers Convention and met Maer Wilson of Ellysian Press. She read Seminal Event in two days. Loved it. I signed with her press later that month.
2026 - Finalizing beta incorporations into The Paradox Event. Began writing book 3: The Terminal Event.
2026 - Heading to Comic-Con. I'll be handing out bookmarks. Generating attention. Hope to see you there.
