SEMINAL EVENT
Chris Mitchell didn’t belong in space. But after conventional methods fail, Mitchell is appointed to Service Vehicle 9 on a high-stakes mission to repair the WinterField.
His mission takes a turn when an abandoned ship, drifting on gravitational tides, collides into his spacecraft.
Chris must decide whether the mysterious ship is his salvation, or the harbinger of humanities end. To learn this, he must travel to remote places of the galaxy, face unthinkable creatures, and confront profound questions about himself and what it means to be human.
About the Author
Mike Fontana has worked in aerospace engineering for over 25 years, designing and manufacturing structures for both spacecraft and aircraft. He received his engineering degree at California State University, Long Beach and played baseball for the Dirtbags (where he still holds records today). After college he was drafted by the California Angels but his professional career was cut short from an unfortunate knee injury.
After baseball, he worked as an engineer for Hughes Aircraft, Boeing Satellite Systems and General Atomics. He finally returned to his true passion, creative writing in 2020 and is looking forward to the release of his debut novel in 2025.
Mike is a cancer survivor and when he's not writing, he enjoys spending time with his family, gardening and teaching young baseball players how to pitch.
